and then i walk down the mountain at 6 MPH.
What is my average speed for the whole trip?

1 hour needed to go up, 20 minutes needed to go down, 80 minutes needed to go up and down the mountain (4 miles), so the average is 20 minutes per mile or 3 miles per hour.
