i got my windows XP sp1 and its working well
i never got be attacked by hacker. i got a good firewall too
is really necessary get windows xp sp2?

It is not necessary to use Windows with Service Pack 2.
But if youre question is : is it better win SP2 than win SP1, i say yes.
I also used for a long time a windows with SP1 and i must say that i had many problemes - ex: with my driver for webcam (when i tryed to instaled to a windows with SP2 the problems dissapered)

xp1 and xp2 have their own advantages. i think you just do what you think its good for you. no need to rush and no need to think hard.. i stay with my xp 2.

It necessary, because sp2 fix the problem in xp it's not just for firewall...duuhh.

We really can't depend on windows firewall,it just have protection for inbound connection

Personally i still use Xp with Service pack 1 because if i install service pack 2 the computer freezez at starting so i don't have a choice i have to use SP1 for the rest of my computer's life
But i don't have any problems with it, works fine!

i think u don't properly install sp2, that's why your computer freeze when it boot up.

btw, if u don't have any problem without sp2..then go on .just be cautious that your computer have a hole that hackers can get in when they know that u using sp1.

#Why microsoft release sp1 and sp2? it because windows xp has problem, and this service pack fix it.

i think you should download and install SP2; it improves the system security and it's free.

You can buy original copies of windows XP Sp2 which has its advantage of security and performance.
Sp1 can be good too and depends on the buyers.
